Stated Purpose
"to provide diverse local and world-class performing arts, transformative arts education experiences for students of all ages, and inspirational venues ? all to strengthen the cultural and economic vitality of the Greater Richmond region."
Richmond Performing Arts Alliance (RPAA) reports that it is an artistic venue throughout the Richmond region that is home to 11 local resident companies, a broadway series, touring shows, corporate and private events, and other community-based arts organizations. The organization has stewardship over the Altria Theater and Dominion Energy Center. RPAA also partners with Richmond public schools and the school systems in the surrounding counties through its BrightLights Education Initiative to offer arts education opportunities for students. In 2019-2020, the organization states that more than 314,000 patrons attended its 450 performances, rehearsals, and community events put on by RPAA. In addition, RPAA reports that it worked with more than 1,800 students, educators, and families through its art education outreach programs.
