Stated Purpose
"to support cancer research and public education relating to the prevention, early diagnosis, better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for cancer."
The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) reports that it promotes and facilitates collaboration among scientists to accelerate the pace of discovery from bench to bedside. NFCR supports scientific research for a cure for all types of cancer. The organization does so by providing researchers with seed funding to further their cancer research and recognizes scientists who have made an original discovery or breakthrough in scientific understanding of cancer. NFCR also provides a public education program that offers information about cancer prevention, early detection and diagnoses, and treatment options. In 2019, the organization reports that it launched its AIM-HI Translational Research Initiative to accelerate the translation of cancer drug discoveries by investing in seed-stage companies. Some ($2,225,557 or 20%) of NFCR?s program activities are carried out in conjunction with fundraising appeals.
