CHILD SPONSORSHIP
OneSky's child sponsorship program works in China, Vietnam, and Mongolia to support children living in government-run institutions, provide access to safe childcare, and teach caregivers in state-run nurseries how to provide care for children who have been referred to nurseries by local clinics. Child sponsors are asked to give $55 dollars per month to their sponsored child, which is pooled with other sponsors to fund the organization's programs. OneSky states that a child sponsor will receive four updates annually, two regarding the progress of their sponsored child and two detailing the organization's overall work in the country where the sponsored child lives.
OneSky reports that it works to assist at-risk children in China, Mongolia, and Vietnam by teaching adults who work with vulnerable children about the importance of quality care and early education. The organization's approach is applied in Chinese orphanages and rural villages, Vietnamese home-based childcare centers, and day nurseries in Mongolia. OneSky creates and implements replicable early learning programs for vulnerable children ages 0-6 years old. Programs aim to train parents, grandparents, nannies, teachers, and guardians with parenting skills, responsive care, and to promote emotional, physical, and cognitive development. In 2020, the organization reports that it opened the P.C. Lee OneSky Global Centre for Early Childhood Development in Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong as a community gathering place for children, parents, and caregivers to play and learn together.
