Global FoodBanking Network meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) supports community-led solutions to alleviate hunger in more than 40 countries. Through expertise, resources, and connections, GFN makes it easier for member food banks to expand service and provide more food. GFN reports that it successfully aids members' capacity, enhances efficiency and effectiveness through training, assures food safety and equity in distribution, and good management through the GFN certification process. In the year ended June 30, 2021, GFN reports that its member food banks recovered over 882 million kilos of food and grocery products and re-directed this surplus to more than approximately 40 million people facing food insecurity, a 132% increase over the year prior. Of the people served, 17.6 million were children between the ages of 0-17, 6.8 million were adults over the age of 50, and over half were women and girls. GFN members are food banking organizations which operate across multiple socio-economic and cultural contexts, primarily in emerging market economies in Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
