Stated Purpose
"to conquer Lyme and other tick-borne diseases through funding innovative research, offering patient services, effective education and awareness programs, and supporting the needs of patients and caregivers by advancing, through science and data, reliable diagnostic tests, novel prevention and treatment strategies, and an eventual cure."
Global Lyme Alliance (GLA) focuses on expanding resources around research, education, patient services, and awareness. GLA's national Lyme Education Ambassador Program (LEAP) aims to broaden the organization's educational reach at the grassroots level. GLA's continuing medical education (CME) program strives to provide a platform to better inform and educate physicians of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. The organization has designed an interactive curriculum in partnership with educators to be shared in the classroom, at camp, and with other youth-focused organizations. The curriculum provides information and tools for the community to protect against a tick bite and how to recognize Lyme disease. GLA also aims to continue advancing research and science through its research grant program. The organization's Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) is comprised of researchers in multidisciplinary fields in Lyme and tick-borne disease and provides guidance to GLA in its review and award process to advance research at institutions with a goal of improving diagnostics and treatment of Lyme and other tick-borne illnesses.
