Every Mother Counts (EMC) works to secure access to high-quality and equitable maternity care for all women and girls, particularly for the most underserved, marginalized populations, through community education and mobilization, advocacy, and grant giving. Strengthening health care workforces, advancing proven models of care, facilitating access to resources, and placing mothers at the center are the four core values that guide EMC?s work. In 2018, the organization reports that it awarded 15 grants to right programs in eight countries: Bangladesh, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Tanzania, Uganda, and the United States. EMC also partnered with a major news organization to launch its short film "Giving Birth in America: California," the fifth short film in the organization's "Giving Birth in America" series. This film was presented at six national conferences to at least 650 people and at least five local and educational events withs over 300 attendees. In addition, the organization participated in nine local, national, and global coalitions and collaborative efforts to improve maternal health.
