Child Sponsorship
Through WHI's child sponsorship program, donors can make monthly contributions toward a child's education. As reported by the organization, a donor's commitment of $40 per month supplies educational resources like books, uniforms, and classroom supplies to the sponsored child, while also providing them fundamental life resources such as clean water and protection from human traffickers. Donors receive a child profile, a letter from their child at least yearly, and an annual update including a recent photograph and their achievement results indicating how they are performing in school. WHI encourages sponsors to write their children regularly, to share their interests, encourage their children to work hard in school, or to share a scripture verse that encourages spiritual growth. The organization forwards donor letters and electronic communications and translates messages. Donors are encouraged to consider a special financial gift for Christmas and may coordinate a visit to their child through WHI's offices. The organization reports that it measures its success not only by whether the child is attending school, but overall impact on the region's food security, access to clean water, decrease in sickness, improvements in teacher training and the availability of school supplies, and other metrics.
WHI is a Christian humanitarian relief and development organization that provides relief and development services to the poor, vulnerable, oppressed, and homeless of the world and those who suffer from war, natural disaster and chronic need.
