Stated Purpose
"to provide housing for service-connected disabled veterans that is substantial in function, design, and quality, fit to welcome home the fighting men and women of America."
Purple Heart Homes (PHH) reports that it works with local partners to place qualified disabled veterans in homes and repair existing homes to meet the needs of its owner. The organization states that its Aging In Place program assists elderly disabled veterans to remain in their homes by creating a barrier-free living environment, at no cost to the individual. PHH's Veteran Home Opportunity program provides young disabled veterans newly renovated and/or modified homes that have been donated to the organization. PHH states that veterans who meet the requirements will have the opportunity to obtain a mortgage and own one of these homes at no more than 50% of the home's final appraised value. The organization also builds modular wheelchair ramps for veterans with limited mobility. In 2020, PHH reports that it completed 165 projects in 30 states.
